“This is it…this is our normal

We are really proud to have our latest article “This is it…this is our normal” – the voices of family members and first responders experiencing duty-related trauma in Ireland published in the Comprehensive Psychiatry journal which is available here; https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0010440X24000506?via%3Dihub.

This paper gives voice to the family members, first responders and organisational representatives who were part of our brilliant co design team and is based on discussions from our first two workshops. Key findings from the paper include;

• Family members feel like hidden members of the first responder community.

• Organizations should consider family members as allies in their supportive roles.

• We facilitated a novel dialogue between unrelated first responders and family members.

• Further knowledge sharing is required to understand this community’s needs.
